A German artist, Tim Bengel, has created the 'world¡¯s most expensive' avocado toast and the sculpture is made entirely of gold.
This is the avocado generation and we are just living it. A German artist, Tim Bengel, has created the 'world¡¯s most expensive' avocado toast and the sculpture is made entirely of gold.
The sculptural sandwich has been appraised at $3 million, comprises of 27 individual parts that include five tomato slices, arugula leaves and, of course, the avocado strips plus two pumpkin seed bagel halves, New York Post reported. Just one of the auspicious avocado slices upon the shining stack costs an estimated $14,000.
According to the artist, the avocado toast represents a symbolic place in millennial culture. One that represents wealth, fitness, health, and status.
Bengel refers to the stuff as ¡°Green Gold.¡± Not sure we can really argue with that.
The piece, titled ¡°Who Wants To Live Forever?,¡± was recently showing at a pro-avocado establishment dubbed the Avocado Club during Berlin Art Week.
He shared a video montage on Instagram that reveals the 3-D design and printing process required to fabricate such detailed metalwork.
¡°For me, the avocado is one of the symbols of the Millennial generation. And I want to capture the Zeitgeist in this work,¡± the subtitles read.
The latest artwork continues Bengel¡¯s fascination with using gold as an artistic material. The sculpture will be available to purchase via Galerie Rother and will embark on a US Tour starting in Miami.
In a report by Statista, avocado demand ¡°increased six-fold to over 2.6 billion pounds of the berry being consumed by Americans in 2020,¡± serving as a testament to the fruits meteoric rise in culture over the past 30 years.
