Distressed sneakers are nothing new in the fashion world, but luxury fashion house Balenciaga has taken a step further into the trend and social media is losing it.
Dubbed the Paris Sneaker, Balenciaga¡¯s newest footwear comes in two variants - high top and mule varieties. Priced at $625 (Rs 48,000) and $495 (Rs 38,000) respectively, the sneakers, which are currently available for pre-order, are made with fully-destroyed cotton and rubber and feature frayed edges on the collar, tongue and lacing system.
Arriving in red, white and black, the shoes feature washed-out marks all over the midsole, with the company¡¯s logo smeared all across the sides According to Balenciaga, these specific pairs were created for the sneaker¡¯s ad campaign and come ¡°extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied.¡±
Balenciaga announced the collection with a note explaining the idea behind the sneakers. According to the brand, the sneakers are "a retooled classic design which interprets mid-century athleticism and timeless casual wear in black, white, or red, with a white rubber sole and toe. It is finished with distressed canvas and rough edges, affecting a pre-worn look."

This isn't the first time Balenciaga has caused a commotion with its unfathomable fashion design.
Last year, Balenciaga launched a 'destroyed' crewneck jumper for ?1,150 (Rs 1,18,360).
The jumper is definitely not a second hand but looks to be from some century else. It is designed to look 'destroyed' on purpose.
According to Balenciaga's website, the dark blue Fairisle crewneck is made in Italy and is available in an oversized fit. It is made from 100 per cent virgin wool.
Not to be left behind, Gucci revealed a pair of Crocs-like perforated rubber shoes for Rs 40,000. The item is priced at USD 420 for men (Rs 30,660 approximately) and USD 470 for women (Rs 34,000 approximately). They are available in three colours each. The men's range includes - red, green and blue, and the women's shoes are available in white, black and lilac shades. All of them have Gucci's signature GG logo.
