In light of this, police recently detained a guy from China for using thousands of phones to generate phony viewers and traffic on his live feeds.

It was discovered that he was able to earn nearly $415,000 (roughly Rs 3.4 crore) from these views in less than four months.

According to reports, he was also fined $7,000 (Rs 5.84 lakh). Wang reportedly utilized over 4,600 phones to engage viewers in his streams in order to enhance the viewing time on his YouTube channel. It was discovered that he continued to do this for four months and earned more than $400,000 (Rs 3.4 crore).

It refers to impersonating real-time activities such as viewer counts, likes, comments, and shares during live-streaming to elicit real-time involvement from viewers and deceive consumers.

How did the man fake live-stream views?

To complete his mission, Wang purchased 4,600 mobile phones that were managed by specialized cloud software. Aside from that, he purchased routers, VPN services, network equipment, and switches from a tech company to control the viewing experience.

Wang and 17 other suspects are currently being investigated for violating national regulations and disseminating false information via publishing services in order to benefit and disrupt market order.
