Poster Of Delhi EWS Flat Scheme Shared By Amit Shah Features Man Who Reunited With Family After 25 Yrs
Union Minister Amit Shah and several BJP accounts have shared a housing scheme poster which shows a picture of Saroo Brierley on it - the man who reunited with his family after 25 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to launch 3,024 newly-built houses for the economically weaker section (EWS) in Delhi. This is being done to rehabilitate all the people who are residing in slums across the city.
PM Modi Inaugurates Housing Scheme For Slum Dwellers
The project has been named 'In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation' Project where the slum dwellers will be given flats in the Kalkaji area of New Delhi. The keys would be handed over to eligible beneficiaries from Bhoomiheen Camp in a program at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.
So, the announcement of this project was shared by prominent BJP leaders and handles of the party on Twitter in the form of a poster.
The components of the poster include a high-rise building, a picture of the family and text which translates in English to: "Now, a concrete house instead of a slum hut¡ A huge gift to the people of Delhi from the central government. 3024 newly-constructed EWS houses will be inaugurated and keys handed over to beneficiaries."
Union Minister Amit Shah, too, shared this poster along with a caption that read, "The Modi government does not make empty promises. It delivers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over keys to happiness to the slum-dwellers in Delhi. 3024 EWS flats to be handed over by Modiji in Delhi."

However, after the poster was shared by several BJP handles, people on the internet spotted a huge error in it. The picture of the family in the poster was that of Saroo Brierley.
Now for anyone who does not know who this man is, he is someone whose story got viral a couple of years ago following his reunion with his family after 25 years. Brierley is a businessman now and an autobiographical account of his experiences, 'A Long Way Home,' was published in 2014 and adapted into the 2016 film Lion. The movie stars Hollywood giants Nicole Kidman as his adoptive mother and Dev Patel, of Slumdog Millionaire fame, as Saroo.
The fact check was shared by the co-founder of AltNews Mohammad Zubair.
