Valid Or Not? Indian School Lays Down Dress Code For Parents Coming To Drop Their Kids Off
An unnamed Indian school put out a notice which laid down for a strict dress code for parents coming to drop their kids off at school. Parents have busy schedules many who are working and other who have a million things to do after dropping off their kids to school. But no for authorities at this Indian school parents wearing full pants was more of a priority.
India is a country obsessed with dress codes. From temples, colleges, school to clubs, everything has a specific dress code and almost all of it has to do with decency aka the attempt to show as little skin as possible.
Strict dress codes that moral police women and men alike are rampant across the country.
To be clear, this ¡®discriminatory¡¯ diktat is more pronounced for women because ¡°they¡¯re asking for it¡± and of course it¡¯s easier to blame girls for their choice of clothing instead of actually pointing out that it¡¯s these backward notions that is holding back our nation.

Parents have busy schedules, many who are working and other who have a million things to do after dropping off their kids to school. Of course they cannot think of getting dressed in the best possible clothes while helping their kids get ready for school, packing their lunch, making sure they have all their books together, carrying their tiffin and water bottles¡¯.
But no, for authorities at this Indian school, parents wearing full pants was more of a priority. Soon after the picture was posted on Reddit, people started to give their own theories about what could have prompted the staff to comes up with this ¡®ridonculous¡¯ rule.
¡®Surely some potbellied uncle decided to flaunt them grizzly thunder thighs in his figure hugging khaki shorts,¡¯ wrote one Redditor.

Another user had an interesting and hilarious reason as to why this may have happened and he painted a hilariously real picture, ¡°I kind of agree with this. Maybe instead of specifically asking for full trousers etc. I think it makes better sense to ask parents to dress like they would when going to work. I have seen dads with unshaven beards and night shorts (you know, the soft cloth shorts with the crotch bulge clearly seen), and moms in nighties (the tent kind, not the sexy kind) with a dupatta - sometimes with dried toothpaste marks - coming to drop/pick up their kids at school. Its just not appropriate attire¡±
Dress codes for parents doesn't exist only in India. A school in the US has recently established a dress code for the parents of its students.
Carlotta Outley Brown, principal of James Madison High School sent a letter to the parents, saying:
Parents, we do value you as a partner in your child's education. You are your child's first teacher, however, please know that we have to have standards, most of all we must have high standards. No one can enter the building or be on the school premises wearing a satin cap or bonnet on their head for any reason. You also cannot wear a shower cap of any kind in the building. Also banned from school grounds are men wearing undershirts, parents wearing sagging pants or shorts, revealing tops, torn jeans showing lots of skin, and dresses that are up to your behind.
Zeph Capo, president of the Houston Federation of Teachers, told the Houston Chronicle that the codes related to women's hair were "classist" and "belittling."
At the end of the day the notice is regressive and for Godssake, parents dropping and picking up kids from school really don¡¯t need a dress code. The school could do better if they focused on implementing rules that would help their students grow and definitely not the ¡®dress code' shenanigans.
