Dhruvi Parmar, a 21-year-old digital designer on Twitter, recently disclosed that an email written by a follower had really troubled her.
#WTF2023 is a major throwback to the 40 off-the-wall stories that defined India in 2023. Bizarre incidents, crazy jugaad, and food you won't believe made it to a plate, it's all here.
Women all across the world are subjected to harassment on a regular basis.
Everything in our society is built up so that women wind up being the source of such humiliating incidents, from a text to a comment. In one such instance earlier this year, a disturbing email was sent to a woman. Here's what went on.
Who was the influencer who received the email?
Dhruvi Parmar, a 21-year-old digital designer on Twitter, disclosed that an email written by a follower had really troubled her. "How characterless you must be to email someone this," she wrote.
"I'M SO DONE," she said, along with a screenshot of an email she discovered in her mailbox one day. In the email, Hardik Chauhan, a guy, promised to pay the influencer "fees" in exchange for her "services."
What was in the email?
The follower explained in the email that he was an admirer of hers on Instagram and was drawn to her "boldness." He mentioned being from Gujarat, as does the influencer, who is from Ahmedabad. He inquired if the developer provided any more "services" outside reels and Instagram.
He then inquired about services, such as "hookup casual ones." The user asked for her costs and how much she "charged" for such an encounter without hesitation. He then adds a tone-deaf statement: "With no intention of hurting you in any way, I just wanted to know whether or not you provide these services."
How did people on the internet react?
The screenshot of the email received over 300,000 views on Twitter. The male fan's behaviour infuriated many people online. "Bhai aise log kaise jeete hain apni zindagi?" one user asked.
"How are you, log?" "I'm so sorry you had to go through this," one user suggested the influencer report the man. I just wanted to let you know that this is a serious offence and that you may submit a complaint online at cybercrime.gov.in. The complaint will be routed to the local police station for further investigation. Please be cautious." Watch the post here.
