Watch: After Pubs Closed In London, People Started Playing Cricket In The Street, Defying COVID-19 Rules
Video of Londoners setting up an impromptu game of night cricket with beer in their hands on the high street in Peckham this week is going viral amid growing frustration with the British government¡¯s lockdown rules.
People in the UK have been getting frustrated with the lockdown rules in the country. Be it the strict pub timing in the night, or limited gathering of people. The frustration has now taken to the streets.
A video of Londoners setting up an impromptu game of night cricket with beer in their hands on the high street in Peckham this week, is going viral amid growing frustration with the British government¡¯s lockdown rules.
Revelers lined the street as a batsman stood before a cardboard box and faced a bowler racing down the street. The batsman cracks the ball with a cut shot to cheers, as onlookers enjoy the game and some even spill their beer.
In UK, pubs are required to close by 10:00 pm under lockdown guidelines. The footage going viral was taken on Saturday night by filmmaker James Jones, who said he had filmed it at around 10:20 pm. One can see from the video that not many cared to maintain social distancing and only a handful of people have a mask on.
¡°I¡¯m sure lots of people have strong opinions and legitimate concerns about crowds gathering during a pandemic, but it was a spontaneous and joyful moment at a time when we all need a bit of joy in our lives,¡± Jones reportedly said. Hundreds of people were on the streets, just standing there, watching the game.

¡°I just filmed the clip and carried on home with the game still going on,¡± Jones said.
According to reports, in the initial days of the curfew when the police expected some incidents, Londoners were ¡®surprisingly¡¯ compliant. No major incidents of people violating the curfew or resisting it, were reported initially. But the frustration amid the public seems to be growing, as a mass gathering with almost no social distancing in London is not in compliance with lockdown rules.

This is how some people reacted to the video:
This is why nobody is in hospital from Covid in London. People aren¡¯t hiding behind their sofas like they are up north.

Sadly, this film just shows how stupid a percentage of the population are. The same type of people who during the last war would have said ¡°I¡¯m not using a ration book¡± ¡°I¡¯m not blacking out my windows¡±

I wonder how they would have dealt with being called up?
Just selfishness.
Same people will be complaining about lack of jobs later when the UK economy gets shredded by an uncontrolled virus.

They just don¡¯t get it. Wonder how many of these people will be in hospital fighting for their life¡¯s in a few weeks or months due to catching Coronavirus.

Brainlessness is.
Love this! They're having fun and socialising.. An integral part of being human. No matter what they impose on us they can't take away human nature.

Many pub owners also protested the move as they are worried that the 10:00 pm curfew will further affect their business that has already been hit by the complete lockdown in the earlier months.
This video represents the frustration of not only Londoners, but of people from other parts of the world as well - fatigued by the lockdown rules and desperate to socialise. But until the vaccine arrives, social distancing is one of the major ways to keep coronavirus at bay.
