Imitating the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci is a herculean task for any artist, no matter the accolades they have in their hall of fame. So, when a Brazilian professional makeup artist climbed this Everest with potatoes and some lettuce, the internet had to listen.

Brazil Makeup Artist Recreated Mona Lisa On Potato

Huylson Tormen shared his edible masterpiece online in an Instagram video, which soon took off and claimed the viral charts. Tormen scavenged his grocery list and made a masterpiece that left people on the internet gasping.

The masterpiece began with Tormen buying Mona Lisa potatoes, a golden yellow variety of the starch, in South America. After bringing his groceries home, the MUA started by laying down a sketch of the woman in the art on the skin of the potato with a pen.

Then, with the sketch all laid out in front of him, the Brazilian makeup influencer started with his makeup brushes. The most important part of the painting was the eyes. So, Tormen started with the woman¡¯s discerning eyes, then worked on the exterior, finishing up the skin.

However, just making the face of art history a marvel was not enough for him. The artist took his masterpiece to the next level and worked on recreating the clothes and background of the painting. Tormen scavenged his grocery bag and looked for anything he could use to make the woman¡¯s clothes.

The MUA Used Wilted Lettuce And Greens To Recreate Mona Lisa

The makeup artist used wilted lettuce and other greens to recreate the rest of the Mona Lisa and even spiced up the background to match the painting. The end result was an uncanny replica of the original art.

Folks on the internet were extremely impressed with the makeup artist and his recreation of the Mona Lisa. One user thought that the art piece was a testament to how makeup can jazz up anything, even a vegetable: "That proves that even potatoe with a bit of contouring can look pretty."
