Man Who Paid Rs 90K For A Camera Lens On Amazon Claims He Got Quinoa Seeds Instead
The customer ordered a camera lens from Amazon for Rs 90,000 but received quinoa seeds instead, resulting in a mismatched and unexpected delivery.
In an unusual event, a man waiting for a high-end camera lens worth Rs 90,000 from Amazon was taken aback when he reportedly received a shipment containing quinoa seeds instead. The unanticipated mix-up has sparked concerns about the precision and dependability of the e-commerce giant's fulfilment process.
The man, an Indian photography enthusiast, had carefully chosen and ordered the camera lens using Amazon's online site. He awaited the arrival of the coveted photography equipment with bated breath, only to be confronted with disappointment and uncertainty upon opening the package.
On July 5, Arun Kumar Meher ordered a Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 lens from Amazon. It was delivered the next day, but when he opened it, he was taken aback. He claimed that the box had already been opened and that it contained quinoa seeds instead of the camera lens. He also included a couple of images of the quinoa seeds that came with the lens box.

Meher posted a picture of the received item to his initial tweet. According to the brand name embossed on the box that carried the quinoa seeds, it was a Sigma lens package.
He tweeted: "Ordered a 90K INR Camera lens from Amazon, they have sent a lens box with a packet of quinoa seeds inside instead of the lens. Big scam by @amazonIN and Appario Retail. The lens box was also opened. Solve it asap."
According to some, the incident casts doubt on Amazon's quality control standards and the precision of its order fulfilment process. While it is unknown how such a discrepancy arose, it highlights the importance of enhanced awareness and attention to detail, especially when dealing with high-value objects.

@amazonIN @amazon is saying they are investigating the case, but how come this happened in the first place. This is totally unacceptable, please solve it asap and send me the lens I ordered or refund my money.

I think that this should be standard in case of high value items. Amazon doesn't allow opening the box until the delivery has been taken by customer. After which it is the customer's headache if the product has some issues.
