Turkey: Man Pushes Pregnant Wife To Death Off 1,000ft-cliff To Collect Insurance Money
A man has been jailed for life after he took his wife, who was seven months pregnant, up a cliff before pushing her to her death in a bid to bag the cash from her life insurance policy
In an extremely troublesome incident that reportedly took place in Turkey, a man pushed his wife, who was seven months pregnant, off a cliff and killed her.
Husband lured pregnant wife to edge of cliff and then pushed her off it
The man lured his pregnant wife to a rocky cliff for a selfie before pushing her 1,000ft to her death. 40-year-old Hakan Aysal led his wife Semra to the Butterfly Valley in Mugla, Turkey, and then he pushed her off the cliff in a bid to secure the money from her life insurance policy.
He has been jailed for life and will have to serve at least 30 years before he can be considered for release. As per the court hearings, Aysal lured Semra to the cliff even though she was extremely scared of heights. He did so on the pretext of them taking a selfie together. After taking the selfie, he pushed her.

Following the investigation, the cops caught hold of a chilling video captured by a tourist nearby just moments before the tragedy happened. The confidential video showed how Aysal holding Semra's hand as they head down the cliff towards the sea.
They were seen standing behind a rock as they gaze out at the Mediterranean. According to The Sun, the passerby named Recep Sahin, who filmed the video, claimed at the time he had seen Aysal acting strangely. He had even mentioned that he had predicted that one of the pair would fall off the cliff.
At the court hearing, Sahin told everyone: "I stopped there to see the view of Kabak Bay with my family. My daughter was filming the view with my phone and the Aysal couple came down the slope at that moment. We even joked, 'either this man will throw the woman off or the woman will throw the man'. There was no interaction between them."
The husband reportedly 'looked extremely calm after the incident'
Another witness talked about the incident and said that the husband looked extremely calm after the incident. He said that he was driving near the cliff when Hakan waved to him and said that his wife has fallen off the cliff. The witness and the husband started looking for the wife from the cliff and tried going to the edge to get a better view.
The witness said that he stayed there until the gendarmerie arrived. But Hakan was very carefree and calm. He was not acting like a man whose wife just had fallen off a cliff.

After his wife's death, Hakan took out loans in her name as well as personal accident insurance of over ?40,000. However, those were rejected after police started an investigation into Semra's death.
