Police On Lookout For California Man Who Was Seen Riding In The Backseat Of A Tesla Without A Driver
In another incident, a man in his Tesla car was photographed speeding down a road while being seated in the backseat.
Tesla is not a typical automaker. Known for its world-class technology and safety measures, in most ways it closely resembles a Silicon Valley technology startup.
The company's cars are also renowned for their advanced autopilot or remote driving features that lets people control the vehicles without being behind the wheel. In recent months, there have been various occasions involving Tesla cars that have put the focus on the autopilot feature.
In another incident, a man in his Tesla car was photographed speeding down a road while being seated in the backseat.
The Golden Gate division of the California Highway Patrol has released photos of the man riding a Tesla vehicle. The photos, released show the dark-haired man wearing a baseball cap while he is seated on the left-hand side of the back seat, leaving the wheel unattended.

While the CHP is investigating, the law enforcement organization stopped short of dubbing the man's behavior a crime, instead calling it as an "unusual incident" in a Facebook post.
"Safety for all who share our roadways is the primary concern of the CHP," they wrote.
In the same post, the CHP stated that the car was driving on "Bay Area roadways." They concluded by asking bystanders to report similar sightings by calling 911.
Less than a week ago YouTuber Ingineerix put up a real brief clip of the person in question, as recorded by another driver.

That clip is titled ¡°Another dumba** abusing Tesla AP¡± and is simultaneously fascinating and alarming.
Earlier in April, a Tesla was involved in a crash in Texas that killed two people; no one was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
