Man Spends Rs 14 Lakh On Engagement Ring, Left Stunned After Fianc¨¦e Doesn't Find It Good Enough
An unnamed man, who lives in the US revealed that he spent $20,000 (Rs 14 lakh) on an engagement ring which he had been squirrelling away for the last 10 years but his fianc¨¦e doesn't find it good enough.

When it comes to choosing a perfect engagement ring, there is always a risk that your other half might not like the ring you pick.
That is why many individuals spend plenty of time researching before splashing the money on a shiny rock. However, one man thought he had done a good job at picking what he thought was an ideal ring for his fianc¨¦e. In fact, he spent his 10 years of savings on it. But it wasn't to be.
An unnamed man, who lives in the US, revealed that he spent $20,000 (Rs 14 lakh) on an engagement ring but his fianc¨¦e didn't find it good enough.

He took to Reddit to ask for the opinion of people, asking: "AITA [Am I The A**hole] for buying my fianc¨¦e a lab-grown diamond and refusing to exchange it for a natural stone?"
The man explained that his 27-year-old fianc¨¦e was initially happy with her engagement ring. It all went sideways when she asked him how much he had spent on the ring.
"I told her that I had spent about $20,000 on it that I had been squirrelling away for the last 10 years," he said.
"She was initially floored that I had spent so much but later became suspicious that I had managed to get such a large stone (3.6 carats) for the price, and asked to see the diamond certificate I got with the ring. I, of course, showed it to her (I thought she was worried I had been duped into buying a fake) and when she saw it was lab-grown she got upset that I hadn't bought her a 'real' diamond," he added.

The man says her reaction left him stunned for a few reasons. "Firstly, I had always been open in my distaste for the natural diamond industry, and secondly because I had employed the assistance of her friends and mother and everyone agreed that she wouldn't care if the diamond was lab-grown."
The man said he had tried explaining to his partner 'multiple times' about his reason to choose a lab-grown diamond.
He said: "It is better for the environment, I know the exact origin of the stone, so I know it isn't a conflict stone, and ultimately it is better value for the money and I wanted to get her the most beautiful ring possible."

He went on to add that she would have had 'no clue' had he not told her, saying that lab-grown diamonds are 'indistinguishable from natural ones unless you look at their certificate'.
His fianc¨¦e has since asked him to exchange it for a natural stone "of equivalent value".
The man continues saying that he said no to his fianc¨¦e's request and told her she can give the ring back and end our relationship, but he won't exchange the ring. It didn't go down well with her fianc¨¦e who replied and called him an a**hole and went to stay the night with her parents.
"I have received multiple texts from her friends telling me to just acquiesce and exchange the ring (and, ultimately, I will if it means saving the relationship) but I just feel like this is something worth being firm on," he added.
