Mohs Mayfair did everything to wow his partner. In fact, he even shelled out a whopping ?400,000 (Rs 4 crore) on a 5.5-carat white radiant-cut platinum ring to potentially propose to his girlfriend. However, he was left heartbroken after to learn she had been 'meeting up' with someone else.
We all love a good love story¡but not all love stories have a happy ending. Come to think of it, a lot of the tales have a few bumps, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. And this particular man from London found it the hard way.
Mohs
claims he went to great lengths to wow his partner - treating her to lavish meals out and boozy dates that cost up to ?15-16,000 each month, The Mirror reported.
However, he was in for a rude shock on one of the nights out when he discovered flirty messages between her and another man on Instagram, when she logged into her account on his phone.
He says the messages appeared to show the woman and the stranger discussing meeting up and they referred to Mohs as an 'ex', even though they were still dating at the time - although she had asked Mohs for a little 'space'.
He was left unimpressed after discovering the exchanges between his girlfriend and her mystery man, so confronted her about the messages. But he ended up being blocked by her - signalling an end to their relationship.
As a result, the ?400k (Rs 4 crore) ring was left to languish in the jewellers and never made it onto the intended finger as the couple parted ways.
Mohs has since received a refund for the sparkly piece of jewellery.
"She'd left her previous relationship because he'd wanted to get married and she didn't. About six months into our relationship, she turned to me and said 'I think it was the fact that I hadn't found somebody I wanted to be a husband.' I then said to her jokingly, 'do you know your ring size?' We went browsing in shops a few times and managed to get a ring she liked. She had no clue about jewellery, Mohs was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"Nobody said I was going to propose immediately, but realistically we were on the same page of she'll think 'f**k it' and say yes. I figured I could still give it to her as a ring - whether I propose to her or not," he added.
But in the end, it all went south. So, he told the jewellers that he won't be needing the ring anymore.
"I was livid at the audacity. It was very shameless of her.
Mohs continued to say that he felt "disrespected" as a boyfriend.
