A pre-fight press conference in Russia descended into chaos after a fighter presented his opponent with flowers - and then kicked him in the face.
A pre-fight press conference in Russia descended into chaos after a fighter presented his opponent with flowers - and then kicked him in the face.
The incident took place at a press conference for a notorious Russian promotion, believed to be called Arena Fighting. The competition is said to be infamous for staging brawls between fighter before entering the ring to build interest.
On this occasion, one fighter rises from his seat to approach another with a bouquet of flowers. He then appears to thrown them at his opponent before attacking him.
As has become common, a brawl breaks out as security staff rush on stage to calm the situation.
However, just as thing looked like as though they were calming, the recipient of the flowers re-starts the fight and the two men are again separated.

Arena Fighting reportedly holds its press conferences in front of a live audience. It clearly encourages its fighters to fight one another outside the cage with most confrontations ending in mass brawls.
Russia is known for organising notorious MMA tournaments. The country's Epic Fighting Championship is as unpredictable as it is bizarre. The competition, if you can call it that, has witnessed many farcical bouts.
Last month, a bout saw a 75-year-old senior citizen and his grandson fight a female fighter. Yulia Mishko, also known as ¡®the Tomboy¡¯, took on the joint, unusual pairing of Big Igibob and his grandad Vladimir Spartak. Igibob and his grandfather were making their debuts as they had no prior fighting experience before the event except the latter's time during the Vietnam war, SPORTbible reported.

The peculiar match-up lasted three rounds, with each round taking three minutes, and seemed to follow MMA rules, as the trio notably wore MMA gloves and the referee allowed ground-and-pound.
Despite Spartak and his grandson¡¯s numerical advantage, Mishko went all guns blazing and took the fight to her two male opponents. In the early stages, Spartak took most of the risks, with his grandson seemingly shying away from much of the confrontation.
During the second round, Mishko looked more in control as she sent Spartak spiralling towards the canvas, and then Igibob to the floor where she attempted some ground-and-pound before Spartak came back. Mishko dropped Spartak yet again in round three with a haymaker.
Even though she was outnumbered, Mishko walked away relatively unscathed.
However, to everyone's surprise, the fight was scored a draw, despite the two men landing almost no offence between them and being dropped a collective three times by clean shots.
