North Korean officials are demanding handwriting samples from thousands of residents in Pyongyang after graffiti appeared calling King Jong Un a 'son of a b****.'
Every day being a North Korean becomes tougher for the country's citizens. There's another challenge for the citizens as North Korean officials are demanding handwriting samples from thousands of residents in Pyongyang after a graffiti appeared reportedly calling King Jong Un a 'son of a b****.'
According to The Daily NK which is a news site based in South Korea which reports on the secretive goings-on in its neighbouring nation. The message on the graffiti read- "Kim Jong Un, you son of a b****. The people are starving to death because of you." This message appeared on the walls of an apartment building in the Pyongchon district on December 22.
This site also mentioned that a meeting of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea was being held at the time and local officials quickly cleared the area and erased the graffiti from the wall.
After the incident, officers have been going door-to-door to nearby homes and businesses to demand handwriting samples and question locals about their movements on the day the message appeared. They will also have extensive CCTV footage to examine, as Kim has installed thousands of cameras in the city since he came to power in 2011.
The source from Daily NK mentioned that the note has been taken much more seriously presently as it appeared around the time of the 10th anniversary of the death of previous leader Kim Jong-Il (17 December) and the birthday of Kim Jong Il's mum Kim Jong-suk (24 December).
This offensive graffiti comes at a time when severe famine was made worse by recent flooding and the closure of the northern border with China due to the Covid pandemic.
Amid these food shortages, the North Korean leader had warned its citizens that they must expect to eat less food until the country re-opens its border with China in 2025.
Unlike other democratic countries, North Korea strictly bans all acts that directly criticize the nation¡¯s leader. The authorities have charged offenders with crimes against the state or sedition, sending them to political prison camps or even executing them.
All we can do is pray for the citizens of North Korea.
