The Mangi family of Larkana, Pakistan, has something in common that goes beyond their surname. According to Guinness World Records, the father, Ameer Ali, and mother, Khudeja, with seven children ages 19 to 30, Sindhoo, female twins Sasui and Sapna, Aamir, Ambar, and male twins Ammar and Ahmar, surprisingly have the same birthday: August 1.
This is a world record for the greatest number of siblings born on the same day. Ameer and Khudeja are celebrating their wedding anniversary on this important day. They married on their birthday in 1991, exactly one year before the birth of their eldest daughter.
The seven Mangi siblings also hold the record for the most siblings born on the same day. The previous record was held by five children born on February 20 between 1952 and 1966 in the Cummins family (USA). Until the Mangi family was discovered, this was the only known instance of a family having five children with identical birthdays.
Ameer was "surprised and delighted" when Sindhoo, his first child, was born on August 1, 1992, the same day as he and his wife. He and Khudeja were both startled when each consecutive birth occurred on the same day. They considered it a "gift from God." All of the children were naturally conceived and birthed. None were born prematurely via caesarian section, nor was Khudeja's labour ever induced prematurely.
Having two sets of twins, let alone twins with the same birthday, is extremely rare. Ameer and Khudeja were "quite surprised" when their twin sons, Ammar and Ahmar, were born in 2003, five years after their twin daughters, Sasui and Sapna.
This is the sixth confirmed case of a mother giving birth to two sets of twins with identical birthdays, tying the record for the most twin siblings born on the same day.
Ameer and Khudeja are "delighted" to share a birthday with their children, and the children, according to Ameer, are "joyful." Ameer felt "much obliged to God on bestowing this world record" after his family was awarded the Guinness Global Records title. He claims that having the same birthday has "proven to be very lucky" for his family.
The Mangi family's forthcoming birthday in three weeks will be exceptionally significant since Khudeja will be 50 and the third-youngest son, Ambar, will be 21. They'll require a lot of candles!
