A woman recently made the painful decision to remove her daughter from a local nursery, sparking discussions about child safety and nursery rules. The main basis for her action was the staff's incompetence in enforcing the 'no touching rule,' which raised severe worries about the children in their care.

The carers at her three-year-old daughter's nursery had crossed the line because they "kept hugging her" while she was angry, and she had chosen to take her somewhere else.

The mother explained that they had violated their "no touching rule," which had to be in place since the child "doesn't like cuddles" or being touched by other people and is only comfortable being hugged by her parents or grandma.

In a post on Kidspot, she claimed that the youngster "didn't feel safe," was "terrified," and experienced "terrible anxiety" every time her mother took her to preschool.

When the mother dropped her child off at daycare, she told the staff that she disliked cuddling and that they should not try to soothe her by hugging her. "I know some other babies, even my son, who is one, love cuddling and feel safe that way," she explained, "but my daughter doesn't."

Instead, the mother provided them with a list of things to try if she was sad, such as giving her a favourite toy, taking her to a quiet area alone, or allowing her to read a book.

However, to the mother's chagrin, they disobeyed her request, and she watched one of the teachers pick up her daughter and attempt to hug her. The three-year-old reacted by kicking and screaming and was "absolutely beside herself," according to her mother. The mother attempted to be understanding at first, taking it up with management and telling them not to do it again, but to her chagrin, they continued to offer her cuddles.

"She would cry, and I would have to remind them," the mother added. Yes, many youngsters are in the room, and I understand how difficult it would be to remember everything. "I have a lot of respect for all teachers, and my husband is one, but this was different." "I felt like I was always repeating myself and working so hard just to make my daughter feel safe at childcare." It shouldn't be this difficult to make each youngster feel safe. "It didn't feel right."

One month later, the mother wanted to take her child out of childcare since she stated that she disliked her teachers and disliked it when they cuddled her. She regrets not doing it sooner and advises all other parents to "trust your instincts." She started at a new nursery a few months later and informed them of the problem.

"They were incredible," the mother stated. They created a peaceful, pleasant environment for her, complete with pillows, novels, and no other people. They let her sit back and observe until she felt ready to participate in any activity. They let me stay as long as I needed to."

According to the mother, the child now enjoys her teachers since they understand she dislikes hugs and feels safe.
