in the footage, the student elaborates that if he were to reside in Vancouver, he'd be facing rental expenses of around $2500 monthly. Conversely, by commuting from Calgary to Vancouver via a one-hour flight twice weekly, he manages to keep his transportation costs at just $150 per round trip.

"That's half the typical rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city," he notes in the video.

Tim Chen, student at the University of British Columbia (UBC), shared his commuting strategy on Reddit.

Hailing from Calgary, Tim attends classes in Vancouver only two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He opts to fly to Vancouver in the morning and return to Calgary the same night.

"I've been using Air Canada for all my flights, and in January alone, I made seven round trips like this," he mentioned. Tim also noted, "Living with my parents in Calgary means I save significantly on rent; I only need to cover utilities, which proves much cheaper than renting a one-bedroom apartment for $2,000 or more in Vancouver."
