Gone are the days when a second marriage was considered disgraceful, or at least, we are hoping they are. Change always starts small, with one or two people, and then the world follows.
One woman broke the stereotype around remarriage in the best way possible, after she posted a matrimonial ad on Twitter, for her single mother.
A few days ago, a woman named Aastha Varma tweeted asking for a suitable groom for her mother. Her quirky request instantly went viral as people lauded her for flouting the societal rule of 'marriageable age'.
Looking for a handsome 50 year old man for my mother! :)

She wrote, 'Looking for 55-60yr old vegetarian, non smoker, non drinker ,loving man and a father who is looking for a life partner and caring children'.
Aastha even retweeted Mohini's tweet and showered her love and wrote, 'I feel so good about this. Every male/female deserves a partner irrespective of their age. And a partner that would make them happy. May your mother also find happiness!'.
Ours is a society with its fair share of stereotypes and baseless rules, especially those related to the marriage - from finding the right match, marrying in the same community, to getting hitched at the 'right age'.
These 'norms' have not faded out and will still remain a requisite in many communities across the country. However, people like Astha and Mohini are proving to be the game changers society needs and rebelling against the status quo.
It's never too late to find a partner, because marriage is not a ritual or an item on the to-do list of life, it is life-long commitment to someone you love and no one should be able to put conditions on that.
