We are ready to step into the second month of 2022, and the first month in itself has been a rollercoaster.

If the crypto market crash and omicron wave were not enough, another highlight of January 2022 has been the world¡¯s richest people losing billions.

The world¡¯s richest people, which mostly include tech billionaires, have seen their net worths take a beating in the first few weeks of 2022, resulting in them losing billions.

The only exception that stands, is the great Warren Buffett.

It's believed that a recent brutal tumble in tech stocks last week has dropped the fortune of billionaires, with the world¡¯s richest person, Tesla CEO Elon Musk taking a massive $54 billion hit so far this year in 2022.

But despite the tech sell-off, Musk¡¯s $216 billion fortune still makes him the richest person in the world, worth nearly twice as much as Warren Buffett.

Amongst other people in the world's richest list, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has lost about $27.8 billion, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have both lost more than $12 billion each, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg¡¯s wealth has taken a $15.2 billion hit.

Warren Buffett-The Only Exception

And amidst all these richest people, only Warren Buffett has watched his net worth increase and not decrease.

Buffett has gained roughly $2.4 billion, bringing his total figure to a whopping $111 billion. According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, last week, Warren Buffett has jumped past Mark Zuckerberg in the global wealth rankings. It was reportedly way back in 2018 when Zuckerberg had last leapfrogged Buffett in the wealth rankings.

Unlike most of the other CEOs and rich people whose net worths are largely tied up in their tech firms, Warren Buffett¡¯s Berkshire Hathaway has stood apart due to its widely diversified portfolio that has allowed him to weather the tech sell-offs and not just prevent a downfall but in fact increase the net worth.
