It¡¯s CEO Adam Aaron has recently provided an update on the company's progress, stating that its on track in implementing acceptance of memecoin Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for online payments.

The Twitter Poll & Announcements
Earlier in October 2021, Aron had posted a Twitter poll asking if the company should accept Shiba Inu payments, and a resounding 81.4% of people voted "for sure".

And after repeatedly being asked for a launch timeline on Twitter by meme coin community members, he had tweeted back in November 2021 that AMC Theatres will accept DOGE and SHIB via Bitpay. This promise was fulfilled in December 2021 after Bitpay began supporting Shiba Inu after already supporting Dogecoin payments.
And now as per CEO's recent tweet, the company is expected to accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu cryptocurrencies ¡®for any and all payments made via the AMC website and mobile app¡¯, with the implementation in the promised first quarter itself, with March likely to be the month to kickstart it.

The Current Lot Of Accepted Crypto Payments
As of now, payments in cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash for tickets online are operable through PayPal, whereas for Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, payments are routed through BitPay.

Meanwhile, AMC Theaters also supports payments through Google Pay and Apple Pay, although those two options currently don't support cryptocurrencies as yet.

And with the first quarter of 2022 already begun in January, it remains to be seen whether the company is able to fulfill its promise of beginning to accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu cryptocurrencies ¡®for any and all payments made via the AMC website and mobile app¡¯, by March 2022.
