How Japan Solved V-Day Disasters Through Valentine's Insurance!
Insurance and Valentine? No matter how unusual these two words may sound together, Valentine Insurance is a true concept in Japan! Read on as we unfold how Japan solved V-Day disasters by introducing Valentine Day Insurance!
Valentine's Day, which is the most romantic celebration of the year, is just around the corner.
It¡¯s not only popular in India but across the world. All over the world, many countries celebrate this "day of love" in their own unique way.
But Japanese people thought a level higher and took steps for men who don't have a valentine.
Japan¡¯s Valentine¡¯s Day Tradition
As the tradition in Japan goes, it's usually the women who have to send chocolates to the person they like. So, quite naturally, on Valentine¡¯s day, Japanese men eagerly expect chocolates to arrive at their doorstep or wherever they are, which is a signal of love from that special woman.
In fact, so much chocolate is purchased for Valentine¡¯s Day in Japan that some Japanese chocolate companies record nearly half of their annual sales in the few weeks before Valentine¡¯s Day itself!

The Need For Insurance?
Sadly, not everyone has a valentine, and hence not every Japanese man receives chocolates or any other gift on valentine¡¯s day, which can certainly be disheartening and even disastrous if so many other men are receiving it not you. That's why Valentine¡¯s Day often turns out to be a day of loneliness and uneasiness for such men.
That's exactly what the Japanese were determined to resolve. So they came up with the Valentine¡¯s Day Insurance concept!

How It Works?
Although it's unclear when the service had started, the concept was pretty simple. The Japanese man has to purchase the ?500 ($5.50) policy and provide an address where their Valentine¡¯s gift should be delivered.
Once they¡¯ve taken this insurance policy, they¡¯re guaranteed a pleasant experience by receiving a package on February 14th. The package usually contains chocolates and a personal message from a self-professed beautiful lady called ¡®Rieko¡¯.
While it's natural to think that buying a Valentine's Day gift for yourself sounds pretty lame and unusual, but for some Japanese men it¡¯s a lot better than having to cope with the uneasiness of being the only one who didn¡¯t get anything on this special day.
So, it does not matter how weird this concept sounds to others, as long as it brings a ray of happiness to the lives of some!
