After a couple of months of its launch, Bajaj Auto has initiated the deliveries of its first ever electric scooter Chetak in two Indian cities. Pune and Bengaluru, as was announced back in January, will be the two cities getting the deliveries of the Chetak at first. This is through an IP67 rated 3 kWh lithium-ion battery which powers a 4 kW (5.36 bhp) electric motor promising a 16 Nm of peak torque. Chetak gets two riding modes - Eco and Sport with the performance and the range being altered by these modes as per the requirement.
Other features on the Chetak include an LCD instrument console that supports Bluetooth, regenerative braking for added range, drum brakes at either end (for the base variant) and an Intelligent Braking Management System to manage them.
In Pune and Bengaluru, Chetak is sold through the KTM outlets and the Bajaj Chetak price is Rs 1 lakh for the Urbane variant and Rs 1.15 lakh for the Premium variant, the electric scooter competes with the likes of Ather 450X, Okinawa iPraise and the newly launched TVS iQube.
