Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a well-known memorial which stands on a couple of rocks nearly 500 metres away from the coast of Vavathurai. The complex is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment while meditating on the rock. The memorial also includes a mandapa built to facillate meditating visitors and is designed after taking inspiration from different styles of temple architecture across India.
