Doctor Who: Joy to the World OTT release is fixed. Nicola Coughlan, who starred in Bridgerton and Derry Girls, will play Joy in the special. A hotel chain that exploits time travel to sell stays throughout history will be the subject of the Steven Moffat-written episode Joy to the World. This year's BBC Children in Need telethon, an annual charity event that Doctor Who has long been involved with, featured a sneak peek of the movie. Doctor Who: Joy to the World will be released on Netflix on 25th December 2024, Christmas.
According to RadioTimes.com, Joy, played by Nicola Coughlan, is introduced in this episode. She arrives at a hotel in London in 2024 and finds that her peaceful stay is anything but typical.
Joy finds danger, dinosaurs, and the Doctor when she opens a hidden portal to the Time Hotel. Just in time for Christmas, however, a lethal scheme is being carried out all across the world.
The cast of the production includes Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor, Nicola Coughlan as Joy Almondo, Joel Fry as Trev Simpkins, and Steph de Whalley as Anita Benn. Other notable cast members include Jonathan Aris as the Hotel Manager, Julia Watson as Hilda Flockhart, and Peter Benedict as Basil Flockhart. Niamh Marie Smith portrays Sylvia Trench, Phil Baxter takes on the role of Edmund Hillary, and Samuel Sherpa-Moore stars as Tenzing Norgay. It has been directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai. The project has been produced by Alison Sterling.
