It's that time of the year, when we sit down and reflect on the year that has gone by.?
2023, in particular, has been a phenomenal year for showbiz. Theaters got a new lease of life, after a long dull phase which was brought over by the pandemic. With movies like Jawan, Pathaan, Gadar 2, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and others spiking up the box office numbers, even the world of OTT upped its game and presented some jaw-dropping titles in the forms of spectacular web series and web movies.?
A variety of shows and movies took center stage this year which catered to different sections of the society. From historical, thrillers, murder-mystery, real life stories, documentaries to GenZ related content, a wide selection of titles kept all of us thoroughly entertained.?
On one hand, we had a show like The Railway Men which made us aware of the contribution of the railway workers in the rescue of several people during the biggest industrial disaster of 1984, the Bhopal Gas tragedy. On the other, we had retro shows like Bambai Meri Jaan?which was a retelling of the gory tale of the underworld and its influence on Mumbai and Guns And Gulaabs, a fictional story revolving around gang wars and the illegal trade of opium.?
Many A-league bollywood actors tried their hands at OTT - the likes of Shahid Kapoor, Kajol, Dimple Kapadia, Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kareena Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur among others were seen showcasing their acting mettle in web series in 2023.
The spectrum of variety has been so vast that every time we wanted to take a break from heavy shows, we were presented with light watches in the form of Temptation Island, TakeshiĄ¯s Castle, Koffee With Karan and Squid Game: The Challenge among others.
There is something for everyone on OTT. You name it and they have it - personalised endings, same story with multiple perspectives, the liberty to choose how to watch a particular story be it the form of a movie or a series - this year brought new innovations in the world of entertainment.
To ease off our burden, we decided to dig a little deeper and leave it on the audience to pick their hot favourites.?

The new norm is that every filmmaker aims to make it big not only in theatres but also on OTT. Most movies eye a digital release after completing their run at the Box Office. ItĄ¯s a whole new ball game as the digital audience has a varied taste and itĄ¯s hard to impress this section of viewers. The amount of streaming minutes and views decide the fate of these movies in the world of OTTs. With such amazing offerings on the silver screen in 2023, the competition to ace in the digital sphere is also fierce.
