“Inki Aukat Kya Hai”, Annu Kapoor Strongly Questions Nudity On OTT Platforms, Calls Out Makers

Annu Kapoor, a veteran of the industry with decades of experience, has criticised OTT platforms for just pushing nudity.

He questioned digital platforms’ ‘aukaat’ and also slammed makers for promoting content that is inappropriate.?

Annu Kapoor told India.com, “OTT film making se juda ek platform hai. Usmei aap thoda zyda khulgye hain or jaise hi aap kapdhe kholna shuru krte hai waise dekhne walo ki taadad badh jati hai. OTT choti jagah nhi hai. Ye OTT banane wale jo haina, yeh jo apke badhe badhe players hai inke paas itna paisa hai. Pata nhi public ka paisea hai ya kahan se paise agya hai.”

He added, “Aapko samaaj toh aisa banana padhega ki samaj ka individual decide kare mujhe yeh dekhna ya kuch or… Jis din aapne samaj bana liya ki mujhe nagnata (n*dity) nhi dekhni hai, gandi chize nhi sunni hai, kisi ki majal hai yeh OTT, inki aukat kya hai, inki koi aukat nhi hai, do kodhi ki aukat hai.(sic)”

With intriguing projects in the works, Annu Kapoor will next be seen in Dream Girl 2, an upcoming film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday.

The actress recently discussed how the advent of digital entertainment has altered the rules of the game by providing audiences with previously unheard tales and fresh content.

She told IANS,? “Ott has proven to be extremely fulfilling for the writers and in turn the whole industry as today we as actors have good stories and meatier roles to work on. Ott has shown the way forward and has changed our way of content consumption and production.”

She further mentioned: “Earlier, there were so many stories that couldn’t come to the fore because the makers wanted to play it safe keeping in mind the demand-supply curve.”

“But, now we are telling brave stories with unconventional settings. The stories that wouldn’t have seen the light of the day on television or on the big screen are now getting materialised and actors too get great opportunities portraying those characters”, she added.

The topic of OTT censorship has been widely discussed for a while now. Some people express their opinion that OTT material shouldn't contain coarse language, nudity, or implausible narratives. However, actors like Zeeshan Ayyub and Manoj Bajpayee argue that there is no purpose in banning content because doing so would limit their freedom of expression.
