The most recent movie starring Nayanthara "Annapoorani," has landed in legal trouble for allegedly promoting "Love Jihad" and offending religious sentiments. The film which is streaming on Netflix is receiving criticism because it is reported to include a controversial statement about Lord Ram.?
Ramesh Solanki shared his statement on X and a copy of his police complaint about the same. He wrote, ¡°I have filed complain against #AntiHinduZee and #AntiHinduNetflix At a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios and Trident Arts.¡±
In the same tweet he also listed reasons why he has filed the FIR. Here¡¯s what he wrote:?
1. A daughter of Hindu Poojari, offers Namaz to cook Biryani.
2. Love Jihad is promoted in this Film.
3. Farhan (Actor) persuades the actress to eat meat saying that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater
He added, ¡°@NetflixIndia and @ZeeStudios_have deliberately made this film and released around the Pran Pratishtha to hurt Hindu sentiments I hereby request @dgpup @MumbaiPolice @homeupgov @maharashtra_hmo to register FIR against the below individuals for hurting religious sentiments.¡±
Nayanthara, Jai, Nilesh, and producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, and Punit Goenka were named in the case along with Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel and head of Netflix India Monika Shergill.
On December 1, 2023, Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food debuted in theaters to a mediocre reception from viewers. In pivotal parts are Sathyaraj, Karthik Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, and numerous others from the ensemble cast of the movie. On December 29, over a month after its theatrical debut, the movie debuted online on Netflix.
