Call Adarsh Gourav a Hollywood superstar or a gifted actor in India¡ªhis skills know no bounds.
The actor, who has appeared in blockbusters like The White Tiger, Extrapolations, My Name Is Khan, and now Guns & Gulaabs, has been landing some incredible roles lately. In a recent Raj & DK production, he played the role of Jr. Ganchi, a gangster's kid. The audience loved Adarsh a lot for doing such a great job!
While talking about what kind of roles he is offered, the actor said that it has been a mix mostly but ¡°After The White Tiger came out, every Bihari or UP character was being offered. People said ¡®this is Bihari but different¡¯. So there are times when you face that but you know it's your choice. "
He added, "You need to know how to say no and be patient for that one thing to come across. Not here to work for the sake of it, because I am particular about my projects.¡±
Adarsh praised the lovely experience of shooting?Guns & Gulaabs. He recounted how he experienced his first snowfall while filming in Landour. He praised the entire ensemble and stated it was a terrific place to work. The actor claimed that he does not know how to accept compliments and that this makes him feel awkward and shy but is grateful for all the love!? ??
As the program comes to a close, Jr. Ganchi visits his father who is in the intensive care unit.? He arrives dressed as a woman and tells his father that he won't spend his life on his terms but will make sure that his name endures. The oxygen flow to his father is then cut off.?
Explaining the arc as the character himself, Adarsh Aka Jr Ganchi said, ¡°It was a case of being trapped in the wrong body almost. About accepting yourself for who you are. It's a case of not being comfortable with who I? was. The world was almost imposed on me by virtue of birth because I don¡¯t think I would have made a choice to become a gangster if my mum or sister were around. I was left to be around this gangster father who was never proud of who I was. Just constantly feeling trapped. It was a scene of acceptance.¡°
The White Tiger actor responded that it doesn't matter whether it's India or the West when asked if the West allows for more improvisational freedom. He said that he places a lot of value on working with people who appreciate him. He continued by saying he didn't want to be trapped with someone he doesn't like,
When asked if he thinks that people will stereotype him because of his dark roles in The White Tiger and G&G, the actor said ¡°I am a light person and a complete child. My inner child is very strong and it is the same with every actor. Because it's pretty much what kids do, like lie and be in their make believe world. Same goes with an actor, you believe that the character is you but when pack up happens I remove all that and change into normal clothes and go to sleep on my bed.¡±
He added, ¡°I am not afraid of being stereotyped. I have been fortunate enough to play characters that come from different stratas of society. Some are dark and some are light. Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is a super-light urban story. Superman of Malegaon is also light with a dramatic arc. The point is that what drives me is the opportunity to transform. What drives me is how far I can go.¡±
When asked if acting was his first choice and if someone had motivated him to start doing it, he said that while nobody had really pushed him at initially, Manoj Bajpayee and Anurag Kashyap had provided him with encouragement while he was working on a short film with them. When he realized he needed to take it more seriously, he started training as an actor and doing everything he could to improve.?
¡°Anurag sir and Manoj sir were instrumental in making me realize that I should take this more seriously,¡± said Adarsh.
For those who don't know, Adarsh worked with Sridevi in the film MOM a few years ago. Recalling his meeting the actor said, ¡°I was 21 when I worked with Sri mam, I had not worked with a star that big till then and I was excited. My father was a big Sridevi fan, and I had been hearing her name since I was little. My father used to tell me that she is one of the most versatile actors since she has worked with so many generations of actors.¡°
He added ¡°When I met her she was such a lovely, calm and affectionate woman. Always focused on work and wanted to make sure she smashed every scene. She was excited when I told her I speak Telugu. Her death was shocking for me¡±
While talking about his on-screen dad Satish Kaushik in Guns & Gulaabs, the actor said, ¡°Satish sir played my father. We spent so much time together and so many stories were exchanged. I used to ask him about 80s and 90s Bombay. He was a genuine, funny man. He always made everyone laugh. At dinner time, we used to flock to the table where Satish sir used to sit.¡±
He added ¡°Death is a weird concept. I've never understood it. One moment a person is there and you are having a great time and then he is just gone and you can never hug him or listen to his voice again.¡±
In addition, Adarsh wants to steadily establish himself as a vocalist in addition to acting because that is what he has always wanted to do.?
