Vicky Kaushal is presently in production on his next venture, the much awaited movie Chhava. According to reports, Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna will co-star in a historical drama. Sources claim that Vicky Kaushal will play Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire.

?Vicky Kaushal can be seen wearing a beige fit and a red scarf knotted around his waist in the viral photos. He has a garland around his wrists and neck. The actor has grown a mustache and lengthy beard to suit the part of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Praising the look, one wrote, “Getting into the skin of any character..he is a true chameleon.”

Another added, “One of the Finest Actor We have in the CINEMA business.”

Laxman Utekar Talks About Casting Vicky Kaushal

Filmmaker Laxman Utekar, who has helmed films like as Luka Chuppi (2019) and Mimi (2021), starring Kriti Sanon, is the director of Chhava.

“His personality, like his height and physique matches that of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He is also a fabulous performer. We didn’t do any look test, I was sure that he is the one who can play Sambhaji,” Utekar told PTI. “He will train for four months in sword fighting, horse riding and a few other things. And once we are satisfied, we will start shooting,” he said as per PTI.

“We have seen many films on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj but nobody knows how big a warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was, or his contribution towards the Maratha empire and to Maharashtra,” Utekar added.

Rashmika had shared an update about the project on Instagram, She had written, "@laxman.utekar sir... I just wonder how can a man handle such a big set with at least 1500 working people with such calm and poise.”

"Sir you have seen me as Yesubai when no one in the world could've even thought about this and I truly wonder how, and not just me. The whole country will wonder how.. but watching those visuals make me tear up.. you've gotten a performance out of me that I am excited for the world to watch," the actress wrote.?
