Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, sought the registration of an FIR against Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna on Wednesday for his "misogynistic comments" in a video widely circulated on social media.
Khanna, who headlines a YouTube channel called ¡®Bheeshm International,¡¯ and earlier this week, he uploaded a video titled ¡®Kya aapko bhi "aisi ladkiyan" lubhati hai???¡¯ (Do such women attract you?)
Earlier this week, he posted a video titled ¡°Kya aapko bhi aisi ladkiya lubhati hain?¡± (Do such girls lure you as well).
In the clip, he stated, ¡°Koi bhi ladki agar kisi ladke ko kahe ¡®I want to have sex with you', wo ladki, ladki nahi hai, wo dhanda kar rahi hai?(girls who desire sex and ask for it are sex workers)."
Maliwal requested that the police submit a copy of an FIR filed against Khanna in this matter and an action taken report by August 13th, calling his statement "extremely misogynistic and offensive to women."
Her tweet translates in Hindi to:
"Shaktimaan is not only made by flying in the air but by respecting women. In this way, calling girls "Dhandhawali" shows the flawed thinking of Mukesh Khanna. Seeing his show, the mischievous kids used to say #SorryShaktiman . He should apologize to the whole country for his statement today."
Mukesh Khanna was featured in the popular television series 'Shaktimaan' and as Bheeshma in 'Mahabharat.'
