Know All About Human Rights Activist HS Phoolka Whom Anupam Kher Is Playing In His Film Nirmat
Indian actor Anupam Kher has served the entertainment industry for over four decades now and is unstoppable. The actor who gave two critically acclaimed films The Kashmir Files and Uunchai last year has an interesting and long list of films in his kitty. One of which is Nirmat, a film based on the life of Human Rights Activist Harvinder Singh Phoolka.
Popularly known as H.S.Phoolka, the legendary Human Rights Activist is also an author and a senior advocate at Delhi High Court.
Mr Phoolka is known for spearheading "one of the longest and most torturous legal battles" and crusades to gain justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Singh fought individual cases on the involvement of Congress leaders H. K. L. Bhagat, Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler despite cover-up by then government.

Where Asian Age called him "the Mother of all Cover-ups" in a front-page story, Outlook included Phoolka in its list of 50 people that made a difference in India.?
Kher while discussing his plans of playing Phoolka told DNA, "It's a well-written, brilliant film based on the 1984 riots. I am really looking forward to it." Anupam is soon to be seen in Shiv Shashtri Balboa where he¡¯s playing a lead for the first time in 30 years and is also entering into the shoes of a producer.
Sharing about the same he said, "Ajayan (Venugopalan, director) sent me the script, and when I read it, I realised that I should go beyond just being an actor in this project. I had the faith in the script, and I realised that if the script translates properly into film, it will surely touch everyone's hearts.¡±

¡°Thus, I proposed that my company will support the vision as well. It's important to back a film, not only by being an actor, but also by bringing the whole company, and their experience to it. The production went smoothly. We all have become more professional. And, when you plan the film properly, half the job is done.¡±
Anupam Kher further shared that making the film isn¡¯t that difficult but selling it is.
He added, ¡°The only difficult task is to sell a film with not such 'popular stars,' in terms of the box office. But that's a part of the business. Today, making a film is not difficult, but selling it, and bringing the audience to theatres is sometimes difficult.¡±

Anupam further will be seen in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency, Satish Kaushik's Kaagaz 2, Gajendra Ahire¡¯s The Signature, Anurag Basu¡¯s Metro In Dino and Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War. He also has IB71, Nautanki and Kuchh Khattaa Ho Jaay. His Shiv Shastri Balboa releases on February 10, 2023.
