Karan Johar Insists Ishaan Khatter & Janhvi Kapoor Are Here Because Of Their Hard Work & Not Because Of ‘That Word’

Karan Johar was called the flag bearer of nepotism. He laughed it off on his chat show but later when it created a big controversy, he chose to speak on it. He made a mockery of Kangana Ranaut on the stage of an award show only to apologise later.

Karan Johar is now launching Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter in Dhadak. At the trailer launch event yesterday, he said that one thing people don’t realise is that even the star kids have to work hard and appeal to the audiences.

When asked what is his biggest concern while launching a star kid, he said, “That they go beyond their name and make an identity of their own. That’s our responsibility and even theirs.” He added that people are quick to attach these kids’ name with nepotism without realising that they are just kids.

“Nowadays, there is so much debate about name, but people forget that even behind a name, there is passion and hard work. It’s not easy to face the camera and to come in front of the media. They are kids. And we put a label to them.

“There is a word, it has run for two years. I wouldn’t even name it because I will be promoting the same concept. I will just say that people are here not because of that name but because of their hard work.”
