Kiran Rao is excited for her latest movie, Laapataa Ladies, to be released. Kiran revealed her plans to submit the movie for an Oscar nomination the next year during a recent Delhi film screening.?
As per Money Control, Kiran said ¡°Our primary recognition comes from the audience's response at the box office. If the viewers and the nation appreciate our work, that would be the greatest accolade for us."
¡°There is a specific community tasked with assessing and selecting the finest films of the year, and if our film is deemed worthy, we will submit it for the prestigious Oscars. However, for now, we are eagerly anticipating the recognition we are yet to receive on March 1, 2024, hinting at the film's release," she said.
'Laapataa Ladies', directed by Kiran Rao, has been chosen to start The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) Summer Festival.
In response to the first IFFM Summer Festival's success, IFFM is pleased to announce the opening of its second edition, which will take place on February 29¨CMarch 2.
As per IANS,? Kiran calls it ¡°a great honour¡± for ¡®Laapataa Ladies¡¯ to be the opening film at IIFM.
She added: ¡°I am absolutely delighted and would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to the festival. I hope the Melbourne audience enjoys the film, and that I get to visit this great city in person soon!¡±
Festival Director Mitu Bhowmick said that she is thrilled to kickstart their ¡°latest venture¡± with Kiran¡¯s nuanced film of ¡°layered human relationships, celebrates women and the unexpected complexities that life throws at us.¡±
The story of "Laapataa Ladies," which is set in rural India, revolves around the chase of individuals who become disoriented while traveling and two young brides who go missing on a train. Starring are Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastav, Pratibha Ranta, and Ravi Kishan.
