Pakistan Cricketer Abdul Razzaq Says He Is ¡®Ashamed¡¯ Of Disrespecting Aishwarya Rai Publicly
Indian actress Aishwarya Rai was publicly shamed after former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq made some distasteful remarks on a live panel. He was joined by former cricketers Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi who were seen applauding and chuckling at Razzaq¡¯s remarks.
Abdul Razzaq apologises to Aishwarya after massive uproar
Abdul issued a video apology on Twitter which he captioned, ¡°I am very ashamed of yesterday and I realise I said very bad words. I apologise to everyone, please forgive me.¡± Razzaq shared that he wished to use a different analogy but due to a slip of the tongue, he took Aishwarya Rai¡¯s name.
What did Razzaq say about Aishwarya?
Razzaq was criticising the current Pakistan cricket squad when he said in Urdu, ¡°If your thinking is that you marry Aishwarya Rai and expect a pious and virtuous child to be born, then that can never happen.¡± After the outcry, Shahid Afridi came out and said that he wasn¡¯t aware of what was said.
He told Samaa TV, ¡°Everyone was laughing. When I came home, someone shared the clip of what Razzaq actually said. Then I felt uncomfortable and thought I would speak to Razzaq and would ask him to apologise because such a comment should not have been made about anyone.¡±
Former cricketer Mohammad Yousaf also condemned Razzaq¡¯s act.
He took to Twitter and wrote, ¡°As a cricketer, I feel sorry that Abdul Razzaq made comments about an Indian actress in a media talk. I hope he will be ashamed of what he said and apologise.¡± Shoaib Akhtar also took to Twitter and wrote, ¡°I highly condemn the inappropriate joke/comparison made by Razzaq.¡±
¡°No woman should be disrespected like this. People seated beside him should have raised their voices right away rather than laughing & clapping.¡±
Shivsena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, ¡°Some ???????s? who identify themselves as former cricketers of Pakistan made vile comments about Aishwarya Rai. All these ???????s who were laughing & clapping to the comment have only exposed their pathetic upbringing. Aishwarya continues to stand tall despite & despite their pathetic comments.¡±
On the work front, Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam¡¯s PS 1 and PS 2 and has no announced projects in the pipeline.
