From her walk to cradling her baby bump, pregnant Deepika Padukone faced mockery after a short clip of her, captured by the paparazzi, went viral. She had stepped out to exercise her right to vote, but instead became the target of online trolls. The backlash she received was completely uncalled for.?
Bollywood stands united against trolling. From Alia Bhatt to Sonakshi Sinha, from Neha Dhupia to Bhumi Pednekar, from Nimrit Kaur to Shibani Akhtar, a lot of celebrities liked a post by journalist Faye D'Souza who defended Deepika against the pregnancy trolls, and thus, they showed their support towards her.?
In her post, Faye wrote, "Dear social media, Deepika Padukone stepped out to do her democratic duty and vote. She did not ask for your feedback on her body or her pregnancy. You have no right to comment on any aspect of her life. Stop it. Behave."
From calling her walk funny to saying that the bump looks fake, people were mean to Deepika Padukone. For instance, one of the comments on her video read, "Dusre country ke log pregnancy mei normal chalte hai." Another one said, "Is she really pregnant, the bump looks fake." A third user said, "Why is she walking like Amitabh Bachchan?"
