Actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap are all set to entertain the audiences with their crime-thriller Haddi releasing soon. The duo has earlier worked together on films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday and Raman Raghav 2.0. However, the friends are now publicly speaking about their disagreement.
Siddiqui told Zoom earlier this year, ¡°Today, mediocre actors are getting attention because they have money and powerful friends who hype them up and create opportunities for them. Because these mediocre actors have such powerful friends in the industry, we know that we cannot speak against them.¡±
Nawaz talked about missing big-budget films and said, ¡°Be it Irrfan Khan or Manoj Bajpayee, nobody has made a big film with us. They keep calling us great actors, but no one has ever invested Rs 50 crore in us. When the same actors die, people call them the greatest actors ever. They don¡¯t give them the respect they deserve when they are alive.¡±
He recently spoke to the same media portal and shared, ¡°Nawaz¡¯s expectations are fine in their own place. But I disagree with him. We all aim to excel in our work. If an actor¡¯s performance is mediocre, I believe they¡¯ve given their best effort. The issue lies not with the actor but with those who contribute to their stardom and continue to cast them. This phenomenon occurs in every field.¡±
He said, ¡°I can empathise with someone who feels they aren¡¯t receiving their due. Nawaz has received his due and perhaps deserves more. However, even if a particular director earns 10 times the income and operates with a budget 20 times larger than mine, and I believe I¡¯m a more superior director, (I must acknowledge that) money isn¡¯t awarded based on my craftsmanship or storytelling abilities.¡±
¡°If my films aren¡¯t generating money, then my earnings will reflect that. There¡¯s no reason for me to feel envious.¡±
Kashyap concluded by saying, ¡°I agree, there are numerous mediocre and very bad actors. However, the world is paying them and watching them. So, how can their success be their fault?¡±
