Diljit Dosanjh delivered an electrifying performance at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, garnering praise from Indian fans worldwide.?
Throughout his set, Dosanjh delighted the crowd with some of his most popular hits, such as "Lover," "Born To Shine," and "Proper Patola."
Dosanjh announced his arrival on stage with the phrase "Punjabi aa gaye Coachella oye."
In an energetic display, Dosanjh proudly proclaimed in Punjabi,?"Now it has been written in history. Punjabi aa gaye hum Coachella (Punjabis have arrived at Coachella). And for those who don't understand my songs, catch the vibe!"
In a recent interview with ABP Sanjha, Diljit Dosanjh revealed that his historic Coachella performance almost didn't start with his now-famous opening line.?
He originally planned to say, "Yo guys, you feel good," but a conversation with a friend just days before the event changed everything.?
This realization profoundly impacted Diljit, who realized that his performance wasn't just about him but about representing his culture on a global platform.
And represent he did! Diljit brought down the house with his hits "Jatt Da Pyaar," "Patiala Peg," and "Munda Hunda Dhuppa Vich Tan Kudiye." But his opening line, "Punjabi aa gaye Coachella oye," really connected with the audience.?
During his interview, Diljit Dosanjh revealed an unexpected hurdle he faced just moments before taking the stage at Coachella.?
A foreigner accidentally pulled out the cable of the keyboard, causing a minor delay in his scheduled performance at 6:50 pm. "I was losing time because the performance had to end at 7:30, and you can¡¯t extend it even by a minute because the sound would get disconnected. I was too worried then," he explained in Punjabi.?
Despite the setback, Diljit remained calm and trusted that everything would work out, eventually delivering a historic performance.
Diljit's performance was so well-received that he was invited back to the stage for an encore.?
And in true Diljit fashion, he wore the same black kurta, lungi, and turban for his second performance, only this time in white. It was a fitting end to a historic night that proved Punjabi music and culture have a place on the global stage.
