Divya Dutta Does Not Want To Be Labelled As 'Supporting Actor', Prefers 'Versatile' Instead

Actor Divya Dutta on Tuesday spoke her mind about the prevailing sexism in the Hindi film industry.?

In a series of tweets, Divya has questioned how Bollywood hails its male actors as “versatile” when they invest in different kinds of roles but offer a discriminatory label of “supporting” for female actors.?

Divya tweeted, “Kuch journo dosto yun hain ki I understand u feel I deserve better, but pls don’t try branding me with a tag of supporting actor. Am not. I am an actor. A complete one at that where I play all sorts of roles . Even leads. U understand? U better understand.” (sic)??

“It amuses me that male actors who do the same I.e play every kind of roles are not given this term . They are called versatile. but this tag is bestowed upon me because in your opinion I deserved better. I appreciate. I am very happy doing the best roles in the business (sic),” she further wrote.

In a career that spans 25 years in the entertainment business, Divya Dutta has proved what an exceptional actor she is after terrific work in films like?Jogger’s Park, LOC Kargil, Veer-Zara, Aaja Nachle, Delhi 6 and Badlapur. But even then, if she feels that she is being branded and is unable to headline a film, it shows a different light of Bollywood.?
