Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film?Thalaivii, a biopic on politician and actress?J. Jayalalithaa who served as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for more than 14 years, is all set to be released on September 10.?
The film has already garnered positive responses from several critics who called it the best performance of her career.?
While talking about the film, Kangana Ranaut in an interview with?journalist Sreedhar Pillai said that she wants to believe that Jaya Amma chose her for this film. "I do want to believe that Jaya amma has chosen me to play her role because somewhere she sees me as a strong woman".
She said that after revealing that she when was shooting for an assault scene in the movie, her Mumbai home was being demolished by Shiv Sena. She calls this uncanny resemblance to real-life as "real and reel life are clashing into each other".
"It is actually uncanny that when we were shooting these scenes when Jaya amma was assaulted in the assembly, Shiv Sena was breaking my house. It was happening exactly around the same time. I was on the set and shooting these scenes (assembly assault), this drama was going on in Mumbai," she said.
For the unversed, Jayalalithaa who was the first woman to become the leader of the opposition was assaulted on March 25, 1989, in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. Her saree was torn during the incident.?
