Finally, filmmaker Kiran Rao has reacted to director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's remark against Aamir Khan's films. Reddy Vanga made these remarks after Kiran Rao was said to have criticized his films in a recent interview. Rao, however, has refrained from commenting on Reddy Vanga's films in her most recent exchange with a media portal. She has also expressed her opinions over his comments regarding Khan.?
¡°I have never commented on Mr Sandeep¡¯s films because I have never seen them. I have often spoken on misogyny and the representation of women on screen. I have talked about it on various platforms at various times. But I have never taken the name of any film because it is not about the specific film. Why Mr Vanga has assumed that I was talking about his film you¡¯ll have to ask him. I have never seen his film,¡± Rao told The Quint.
Regarding Reddy Vanga's claim that Aamir did misogynistic songs like "Khambe jaisi khadi hai" in the past, Rao responded by saying that her ex-husband was among the few individuals who have shown regret.
¡°There are very few people who would look back at their body of work and apologise for doing something problematic in retrospect,¡± she added.
She further added, "If Mr Reddy has something to say to Aamir, he should tell him man to man. I am not responsible for Aamir's work or Aamir Khan. So, I wish Mr Reddy would address his questions directly to Mr Khan."
Reddy Vanga brought up a moment from the movie Dil in which Aamir Khan's character threatens to assault a woman, but they ultimately fall in love.
¡°I want to tell that woman (Kiran Rao) that go and ask Aamir Khan about the song ¡®Khambe jaisi khadi hai¡¯, what was that? Then come back to me,¡± Reddy Vanga told Dainik Bhaskar.
The official X page of Animal The Film hit back at Kiran and they wrote, "We, neither our director Mr @imvangasandeep are making any assumptions Miss @ikiranrao! It's a fact reported by a very big media channel (sic)."
