Vivek Agnihotri has been making headlines ever since his movie The Kashmir Files, which has already crossed Rs 200 crores and has become the highest-grossing Hindi film post the pandemic, has released.?
Once again, he has embroiled himself in another controversy with a "homophobic" statement he earlier made and that has already led to a Police complaint against him.?
In a clip going viral on social media, the filmmaker can be seen saying, "I have grown up in Bhopal, but I am not a Bhopali. Because Bhopali has a different connotation. You can ask any Bhopali. I will explain it to you in private. If someone says he is Bhopali, it generally means he is homosexual, a person with Nawabi likings."
Filmmaker Onir, who is?openly gay and a vocal advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, took to Twitter to write, "Can¡¯t believe someone actually makes a homophobic statement like this !! Shame."
Another Twitter user wrote, "Have spent years and years in Bhopal and never heard this. Gadha kahin ka".
A complaint, seeking FIR against Vivek Agnihotri for defamation and other charges has been filed by journalist-cum-celebrity public relations manager Rohit Pandey through his lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh.?

The complaint seeks FIR against Agnihotri under sections 153 A and B for promoting enmity between different groups, 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 298 (Uttering words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings), 500 (Punishment for defamation), 505-II (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes).?
