‘Salman Is A Gem’, Rahul Roy Expresses Gratitude Towards Actor For Clearing His Hospital Bills

Rahul Roy became an overnight sensation with his debut film Aashiqui back in 1990. It was a few years back that the actor suffered a brain stroke in Ladakh while shooting for the film LAC – Live the Battle. The 55-year-old was then airlifted and admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital.

This was the year 2020 and taking Rahul’s care were his sister Priyanka Roy and brother-in-law Romeer Sen.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Roy and Priyanka revisited those rough days and revealed how they managed the whole scenario. Priyanka shared that she sensed that Rahul was not well as he used to call her every day but when in Ladakh, Roy told Priyanka not to call him.

Priyanka shared, “He never does that to me, but he told me, ‘Today, no talk.’ I was like, ‘But you are not able to talk only, what’s wrong?’ Words were not properly formed and he was stammering. But he said, ‘It’s just cold.’ I thought let me give him a night and I called him the next morning, but he didn’t pick up”.

Later in the day, Priyanka got on a call with the film’s director Nitin Gupta and requested him to take care of Rahul. Nitin to this replied, “He told me, ‘He (Rahul) is fine, don’t worry. I am a doctor, you don’t have to teach me.’ He happened to be a doctor, he was a doctor by profession and director by passion.”

Unfortunately, Rahul’s health deteriorated to a level that he was taken to a doctor in Kargil who said that he “might have Aphasia due to a brain stroke or something”. Priyanka then took the lead and said, “Then I told that guy that I need my brother at any cost. I managed to get him on the helicopter. I had to convince his twin also.”

Rahul revealed that actor Suchitra Pillai has offered him financial help which was later joined by Salman Khan.

Rahul said, “The pending bill of the hospital was cleared by Salman in February. He called and asked if he can be of any help and he helped. I am very thankful to him”. His sister added, "The most beautiful thing is Salman did not speak about it in front of the media. This is called really being with a person. This touched my heart. This man is a gem.”

“Somebody out of the whole crowd comes and asks in reality if you are actually in trouble and that's the biggest thing. This is called you are a star. Not just being a star in front of the camera."
