Rajkummar Rao is currently busy promoting his recently released Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs. Alongside this National Award winner, the black comedy crime thriller also features Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah and Adarsh Gourav in the other pivotal roles. Created by Raj & DK, the series has opened up to positive reviews.
Asked if he has the iconic Nationalist¡¯s character on his wishlist, Rao told Pinkvilla, "Of course, I'm very passionate about Bhagat Singh and his journey, and to present him on screen in a very different way than whatever you have seen till now, and it was great also. But, if I would ever do Bhagat Singh, it will be a very different take on his life and me playing him as an actor.¡±
While Rao has previously spoken about this, the actor once again detailed it in an interview with Bollywood Bubble. He said, ¡°Most of the North Indian boys would say that we all could connect with him (Shah Rukh Khan). His characters, his charm, and also his journey. I think what I got attracted towards is of course him as an actor.¡±
¡°But his journey, you know being a Delhi boy, Delhi ka ladka Mumbai mein aake itna bada superstar ban gaya, that really inspired me and that¡¯s one of the reasons I thought of becoming an actor. I fell in love seeing those stories on screen and seeing him playing those characters."

Rajkummar will soon be seen in Mr and Mrs Mahi which is a sports drama that¡¯ll arrive in theatres in March 2024. He is currently shooting for Sri which is a biopic of Srikanth Bolla biopic. The most recent one to release is a sequel to his 2018 film Stree led by Shraddha Kapoor.
Rajkummar is also leading Anubhav Sinha's Bachpan Ka Pyaar.
If Rajkummar¡¯s wish to play Bhagat Singh comes true, it will not be the first one in history. In 2002, a blockbuster display of Singh¡¯s life was put up by Rajkumar Santoshi. Titled, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, the period drama featured Ajay Devgn in the lead alongside Sushant Singh, D. Santosh, Akhilendra Mishra, Raj Babbar, Farida Jalal and Amrita Rao.
