The murder of Shraddha Walker, a 27-year-old Indian woman was was brutally killed by her boyfriend and live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala-- the man who cut her body into pieces and disposed of them at different places--continues to horrify the entire nation.?
Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sadhvi Prachi has now compared the spine-chilling incident with Swara Bhasker's interfaith marriage with Fahad Ahmad. Here's what she said.?
"Swara Bhasker has always been against the Hindu religion. I was sure that she would marry someone not from the religion. This has happened now. She has married a Muslim," she said.?
"Probably, Swara Bhasker didn't pay attention to the news of how Shraddha's body was chopped into 35 pieces. She should have seen the fridge once before taking such a big decision. It is her personal choice. I have nothing much to say. But what happened to Shraddha can happen to Swara too," she was quoted as saying."
On the other hand, All India Muslim Jamaat president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi has called their marriage illegitimate. He said that Swara will have to accept Islam to make their marriage valid as marriage to non-Muslim is illegal in Shariat.?
Furthermore, Chicago-based Islamic scholar Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi took to Twitter to say, "If Swara Bhasker is not Muslim and her 'supposed' husband is Muslim, this marriage is not Islamically valid. Allah says do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. 2:221 If she accepts Islam only for the sake of marriage, it is not accepted by Allah."
In response to this, RJ Sayema defended Swara-Fahad's wedding by questioning Wajidi's opinion. RJ Sayema wrote to the scholar, "Your citing of the Quran was accurate but you gave an unsolicited advice. Did Swara or Fahad ask you? We need to stop imposing and let people be. Allah won't ask you. 'Neeyat' is a pillar of Islam and your appear questionable. This is disservice to Islam. I hope you realise it."
Swara Bhasker got married under Special Marriage Act, which permits any Indian to get married irrespective of their faith. Swara got married to? Samajwadi Party's Fahad Ahmad.
