A lot of people are jobless, a lot of them haven't got their due salaries as of yet. A lot of people are trying hard and doing everything they can to make the ends meet.
Small-time actor Solanki Diwakar has been jobless since past two months. To make the ends meet, he is is selling fruits on the streets of South Delhi.?
The 35-year-old actor, who has worked in movies like Hawa, Halka, Kadwi Hawa, Titli, Dream Girl and Sonchiriya among others, is a father of two. He says no work is big or small, and so, he has has fallen back on his job as a fruit vendor to earn money and manage a living.
"With the lockdown being extended I have to take care of my needs. I have to pay my rent and also need money to meet the expenses of my family. So I have turned back to selling fruits," Diwakar told ANI.
Diwakar was looking forward to playing a small role alongside Rishi Kapoor in an upcoming movie, which got canned after the coronavirus pandemic had struck the nation.
"Because of the coronavirus and lockdown it was postponed and now he is is no more. I very much regret not being able to work with Rishi Kapoor ji. If the lockdown and Corona had not happened, I would have been in Mumbai doing some small roles in movies," says Diwakar.
The actors hails from Agra and has been living in Delhi for some 25-odd years. He wakes up early in the morning, goes to Okhla Mandi which is one of the largest wholesale fruit and vegetable markets in the national capital, picks up seasonal fruits, and comes back to sell.?
Of course, it is not easy for him. From negotiating long queues at the mandi to steering clear of policemen and battling risk of contracting the deadly virus, he does everything but doesn't want to stop, because if not the virus, the hunger might kill him, he says.
While he cannot wait to face the camera once again, he says he is happy for what he has and celebrates the little victories in life.
