We know that the rising price of tomatoes had been causing a huge inconvenience to Indians since it is one of the primary ingredients of almost every dish we cook at home. So, while we were figuring out how to substitute it with something else, Uorfi Javed substituted gold with tomato!
Known for bold fashion choices, Javed has now taken her sense of style to a different level. She shared photos of herself wearing 'tomato' earrings on her Instagram account.?
'Tomatoes are the new gold,' she captioned her post which shows her biting into a tomato while wearing earrings made from the fruit.?
That's not all! Another hilarious thing about this post is that she also shared a snapshot of actor Suniel Shetty with the text, 'Eating fewer tomatoes these days due to rising prices.'
Recently, Shetty had revealed that he and his family are consuming fewer tomatoes these days because of the prices. The Dhadkan actor is also a restaurateur and the tomato price situation had affected his businesses too. He said he has always been a haggler who bargains and buys products only at the best price like the rest of us.
"My wife Mana buys vegetables for only one or two days, because we believe in eating only fresh produce. The prices for tomatoes are skyrocketing these days, and this has affected our kitchen as well. I eat less tomatoes these days. People may think that because I am a superstar, these things don't affect me. That isn¡¯t true and we have to deal with such problems too," the actor had said.
"I am also a restaurateur, and I¡¯ve always bargained for best prices. However, with rising prices of tomatoes, people have had to compromise on taste and quality. I have too," he had added.?
Coming back to Uorfi, the internet celebrity shared another snapshot of a tomato plant with the text, 'Maharashtra farmer becomes millionaire in a month by selling tomatoes.'
Clearly, Uorfi also has a great sense of humour but the tomatoes are definitely worth much more.?
