Vikrant Massey's latest interview has created quite a lot of buzz online. From the 12th Fail actor talking about his brother converting to Islam to sharing that his wife supported him financially during his struggle days, the actor has once again become the talk of the town.?
With increased attention on him, one of his old tweets has gone viral on social media and become a target of trolls. Now, Massey has taken down the controversial Ram-Sita tweet and issued an apology.?
In the now-deleted tweet, Massey shared a cartoon of a conversation between Lord Ram and Sita. In the cartoon, Goddess Sita is seen reading a? newspaper and telling Lord Ram, "I'm so glad I was kidnapped by Ravan and not by your bhakts!". The tweet read, "Half baked potatoes and half baked nationalists will only cause a pain in the gut. #KathuaCase #Unnao #Shame (sic)".
After deleting the tweet, Massey took to Twitter to write, "In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, IĄ¯d like to say a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community. But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release the distasteful nature of it. The same could have been said without adding the cartoon which was published in a newspaper. And IĄ¯d with utmost humility like to apologise to each and everyone who has been hurt As you all by now know, that I hold all faiths, beliefs and religions with the highest possible regard. We all grow up with time and reflect upon our mistakes. This was mine. Regards."
Here's how fans reacted to his apology. A comment on his tweet read, "You wrote an apology because you know the collective power of the audience, and you fear the boycott of your movies." Another one said, "But your intention was only to hurt Hindu sentiment. And then you are saying you are innocentProve us that why this should not be considered as blasphemy." Another user wrote, "Copy paste message from pr team won't work bro we hindu wants apology video."
