Hollywood actor and producer Michael Douglas is currently in India and is seemingly having the best of his time. Michael was in the country to attend the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa where he was awarded the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.
During IFFI¡¯s closing ceremony which was hosted by Ayushmann Khurrana, Michael interacted with the Dream Girl actor who tried teaching him Hindi. Ayushmann told Michael to repeat, "India, main aapse bahut pyaar karta hoon (India, I love you a lot)." Michael first goofed up a little but said it fluently in his second attempt.
Ayushmann shared the video on his Instagram and wrote, "India bhi aapse bahut pyaar karta hai @michaelkirkdouglas. A surreal moment with the legend."
Several users took to the comment section and lauded Michael's fluency in Hindi. One user wrote, "He almost said, 'bahut sa pyaar seekha'." Another commented, "Wow what a memorable moment." The third reverted, ¡°Bohot sara pyaar apko.¡± The fourth one shared, ¡°Reminds me of Joey's French learning scene with Phoebe.¡±
Michael quoted, ¡°It¡¯s a tremendous honour to receive this award, a career life achievement. When I heard about the award, my family and I were elated.¡± For the unversed, Michael attended IFFI with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and his son. The trio has been sharing several videos and pictures from their India visit ever since they¡¯re here.
At the closing ceremony, ¡®Endless Borders¡¯ won the Best Film Award while the movie¡¯s lead - Iranian actor Pouria Rahimi Sam took home the Best Actor (Male) award. The award for Best Actor (Female) went to French actor Melanie Thierry for her performance in Party of Fools.
Bulgarian film director Stephan Komandarev won the Best Director award for his film Blaga¡¯s Lessons.
Coming back to Michael, during his byte to the media, the veteran star talked about PM Modi's leadership skills and said, "I also think this is more and more the sort of spirit, and the beauty of this festival is you had 78 foreign countries represented and it's only a reflection of the strength of your Indian filming, which is renowned and known around the world.¡±
¡°I think you're in very good hands. I think it's beginning to."
