Despite this, Vikrant Massey became a big name in Bollywood and proved no opportunity is too small.?
Born and raised in a small town Nagbhid in Maharashtra, Massey was always interested in performing arts. He forayed onto stage with small-time dancing and theatre performances at the age of 7.
After completing his education from RD National College of Arts & Science, he started his acting career in 2007. His made his debut in Television show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. A trained Jazz dancer who worked with Shiamak Davar, he essayed the role of Aamir Hassan, a dance choreographer. In 2008, he was seen in Dharam in Dharam Veer alongside Rajat Tokas. However, his breakthrough was Balika Vadhu.
Massey became a household name with his role as?Shyam Singh, a supportive husband to Vibha Anand in Balika Vadhu.?Besides, he was also seen in TV shows like Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, Qubool Hai, Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Ajab Gajab Ghar Jamai.
Massey made his Bollywood debut in Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, which also starred Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. He acting skills were appreciated by the critics as well as fans. Following this, he bagged Zoya Akhtar's?Dil Dhadakne Do, a multi-starrer movie with actors like?Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar.
After proving his mettle with supporting roles, Massey got the opportunity to play a lead role in? Konkana Sen Sharma's debut directorial venture A Death in the Gunj.?Once again, he left the audience as well the critics floored with his stellar performance. So much so, that he bagged Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.?Post that, he appeared in critically acclaimed movies like Half Girlfriend and Lipstick Under My Burkha.
One of his most loved roles is Bablu Bhaiya in Mirzapur, the show that marked his debut in web series.?With shows like Criminal Justice and Made in Heaven, Massey went on to become one of the most popular actors on OTT.
In 2020, he played a lead role alongside Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak, a Meghna Gulzar film based on the read life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Post that, Massey was unstoppable. He signed a lot of projects including he starred in Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Ginny Weds Sunny, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Haseen Dillruba, Love Hostel and Gaslight among others. He kept on proving his versatility.?
His recently released movie 12th Fail established him as a star of Bollywood.
